Miss South Central Scholarship Program, Inc.


Eligibility: The Miss South Central Scholarship Pageant is open to any young woman who:

1)    Is at least 17 on September 19, 2010 and no older than 24 on December 31, 2011; AND
2)    Is a citizen of the US; AND
3)  
(a)    Is an Indiana high school senior or graduate; OR
(b)    Has been a resident of the State of Indiana for six (6) months before TBA; OR
(c)    Has been an employee (40 hours per week) in Indiana for six (6) months before TBA; OR
(d)    Is a college student who has completed one (1) semester in one of the counties listed under item four (4), (minimum twelve (12) credit hours) as a full time student at a college or university in one of the counties listed under item four (4) and no more than six (6) months elapsed between the first semester and the current semester.

Proof of Eligibility: Attach to the application form, a photocopy of a valid driver's license, along with a copy of a voter registration card, or a utility bill, or a school transcript, or a tuition statement or some other proof of residency.  Any application submitted without proof of eligibility will be rejected.

Platform Issue: The Miss America Organization encourages young women who participate in the program to become involved in their communities and to speak out on issues of concern to them.  Each contestant must choose a social issue on which to focus and write a short essay describing why it is important to her.  Each contestant will have to answer a number of questions about the community service she has completed related to her platform.  For a sample platform statement, see the Contestant Forms .

Interview
An appropriate outfit for a Business Interview.
The contestant's interview time will be a total of ten (10) minutes. There will be nine (9) minutes and thirty (30) seconds of a straight interview by the judges and a 30 second close by the contestant.  

The contestant will enter the room, the judge designated to ask the contestant her first question will begin the interview.
Talent
An appropriate outfit to coordinate with the talent presentation.
MAO announced that effective immediately  beginning with the 2009 pageant year, that there is a change in talent time from two minutes to no more than ninety seconds.

Nothing longer will be accepted, and this will be strictly enforced!  

Judges will be informed immediately if a contestant runs over her allotted time . Each judge will then use this information to assist in determining his/her score of the contestant’s talent competition.

Any music provided must be presented to the pageant committee in CD format only.  Live accompaniment, cassette tape, or other formats are prohibited.  

All talent presentions must be appropriate in nature for a
general audience, including children.  Talent material deemed inappropriate per the Executive Directors will NOT be allowed to be performed.

   Swimsuit
A ONE or TWO piece swimsuit, of reasonable taste, with appropriate footwear.
Evening Wear
An after-five formal outfit any length.
The Evening Wear phase of competition is designed for the judge to assess the contestant's beauty, poise, grace, and commanding stage presence.  The contestant's total look is considered.  Her evening wear (not
the value of the evening wear) should complement the
contestant's individuality.

Please note:  you may be walking down platforms before reaching floor level.
